Next stop was Ventura to paint a land speed car for a man called Willi Boelke, who is a member of both the Bonneville 200mph Club and the El Mirage Dirty 200 Mph Club…

When I wasn’t painting I had a lovely old 53 Buick to drive around in, sipping long island ice teas by the pool and seeing some of the best sunsets I’d ever seen..

I was commissioned by Ace Hotel to paint a room in there Portland location and an idea sprang to mind…

I had been trying to figure out a way to propose to my girlfriend Stephanie Reynard and when Ace contacted me it all fell into place…

It was tough keeping it a secret but with the help of some local friends and a night out on the whiskey, inducing a hang over for Steph I managed to sneak away for long enough to get the room painted…

We then had a lovely meal, and I took her up to the room under the false pretence that it was a rooftop bar, opened the door, dropped to my knee, popped the question and we the tears started to flow… Luckily they were tears of joy and all went well… 6 bottles of champagne followed and Steph refused to leave the room for three days… what a memory…

The room is still painted and I’m sure has caused much confusion for other guests…

I was commissioned to paint a 51 Chevy Gasser by a talented photographer called Ray Gordon, the car had been built by a legend in the game called Cody Adams, who runs Hurst Racing Tyres along with his dad Steve…

This is one of only two tyre factories left in America that still make the tyres by hand… they are all inspirational gents, who work hard and have a great outlook on life, balancing fun with hard
    graft..

Days were spent visiting the drag strip, going to car shows and of course painting the beast…

Next up was the Bivouac camping trip into the depths of the Pacific Northwest, where fires were lit, burgers were cooked, mini bikes were raced and the consumption of alcohol was prominent, all with the help from SEESEE and Poler Camping Stuff…

Filming the moto food fantasy film with the guys from SEESEE Motorcycles… this was a great introduction to Portland, where the city’s slogan is ‘Keep Portland Weird‘…

The day started with loading a couple vans with super expensive film equipment, hot dogs, barbecues, motorcycles and a rag tag crew of enthusiastic law breakers…

We headed out of the city to an abandoned timber works where Drake McElroy of Motorcross fame proceeded to do a rolling burnout on an over powered Ducatti whilst drinking a beer and eating a slice of Pizza…

Before blowing the tyre out completely…

We then headed to a small island with a perfect little roads and set up an ambush as two girls roads dirt bikes along before being barraged with a shit load of hot dogs, this happened three times before we had to scrape up the remnants of the pulverised processed meat before we headed to a farm that had it’s own private beach, where Thor, the man behind SEESEE set up a launch ramp and jumped over a flaming barbecue whilst Drake did a wheelie past him going the other way…

This was all complete madness and is best described if you watch the video (below).

Champion Motorcycles is an awesome workshop tucked away in a little lane way in Abbotsford, Melbourne, it’s located behind the Yarra Hotel Pub with direct access from the workshop into the beer garden.

It’s run buy an inspiring man, called Jim Clark who is a master of many trades, he shares his time between customising excellent Postie bikes (the one used by the Australian postal system) and working as a TV producer, he is also a big fan of all things Japanese and a major Denim aficionado.

The workshop doubles up as a retail space where Jim sells all sorts of goodies from homewares to denim, helmets and motorcycle accessories…

A truly legit bike guy, been in the scene longer than I can walk…

    And oozes style…

In one of the old chook sheds there was this rusty old Holden Ute, This is the first time I’d painted since I left the UK, with the sun on my back and creatures rustling around near by… It sure was good to be painting again…

Me and Steph spent a week on a farm in Wyuna East, where the sheds were full of old machinery and not to mention a couple V8 Holden Muscle Cars. Surrounded by paddocks and water channels, the horizons were huge… In the middle of nowhere… Cattle Country…

338 McBain Road, Wyuna East… This place is in the middle of nowhere, you can travel for hours on crushed rock roads, farmland stretching as far as you can see… Perfect dirtbike territory…

Every farm we went past had old rusted cars and tractors, rickety old fences and corrugated steel sheds… It feels like you are driving through the set of a horror film… I love it…

Our first trip to Melbourne included a visit to the Captains of Industry, a super rad little backstreet coffee shop that shares its space with a tailor and a cobbler…

Next up, a visit to Modaks Motorcycle Shop, that has been around for decades, specialising in British bikes only, a truly legit and authentic place, where the proprietor works with his mother who is over 90 and still packing boxes… so much knowledge in that place…

We saw Bens $2 shop on the way, rad architecture…

Dr Follicles is a barber shop specialising in trim moustaches and big beards, neither of which i have but stopped in to ask directions and was confronted with over the top hipsters covered in tattoos.

Last but not least, we went to a Redwing dealer who had been selling boots since the sixties, he was actually wearing rose tinted glasses and talking about how high he was for the last forty years…

Myself and steph both ordered a pair of boots each but sadly he has yet to contact us and we suspect he completely forgot…

We ended the day in Cookies, an awesome bar, craft beer for miles. An thrice, yes thrice, not twice, fried chicken.

First things first I packed up the studio, rammed the van full of three motorbikes and a ton of signs.

The final days of riding before I leave the SR500 behind.

Ragging it around the Northumberland countryside.

Waiting at the airport before departure…

Inappropriate long haul clothing apparently, suede cut off, denim trousers and redwings, two motorbike helmets and a shit ton of titty mags..

Steph kept telling me I should have chosen leisurewear… oh well…
