EDWIN x KIDILL x Winston Smith

KIDILL

Continuing our strong relationship with Japanese fashion brand, KIDILL, the alliance resumes for Spring/Summer 2021 with an assortment of classics from the Made in Japan Collection adorned with the iconic artwork of Punk Art Surrealist, Winston Smith.

Winston Smith, an American graphic artist, is known as a “Surrealist Punk Artist” having previously worked with Green Day, punk legends, Dead Kennedys and this season… with KIDILL.

Using a selection of artwork from Smith’s archives, KIDILL founder Hiroaki Sueyasu first discovered his work when he bought a Dead Kennedy's record in High School. As his career progressed, he has always tried to incorporate the spirit of youth culture into the KIDILL collection, expressing the spirit of hardcore punk in a visible form.

In 1981, Smith’s political and shocking piece “IDOL” appeared on the Dead Kennedy’s album “IN GOD WE TRUST, INC.” This album, banned in England and condemned by the American religious far-right, landed both the artist and the band a permanent spot in the punk culture’s Hall of Shame.
