Nure Onna

A water serpent spirit from coastal Northern Japan, Nure-Onna is feared by fishermen and shore-dwellers, but her intentions are up for debate – some say she’s not malevolent, but benevolent until bothered.

This collection pays tribute to her myth, with each item coloured by deep blue velvet – symbolic of the waters she inhabits. The statement Nure Onna Jacket also features an illustration of the creature on the right sleeve, offering a modern interpretation of the iconic Japanese Suka jackets of the 1940s.
